Adopt a school program

What is the Adopt a School Program?

The Adopt a School program gives students the opportunity to gain real experience, learn about the career opportunities open to them, and find out about the kinds of skills employers are looking for through completion of a project.

A typical Adopt a School project is set within a particular industry sector and runs to a project plan. It gives participating students hands-on learning under the guidance of an industry mentor and produces a defined finished product. When the project is completed, a student awards evening or community-based event is often held to celebrate the project and the cooperation of all involved.

What are the benefits for employers?

Employers can:

  • Raise their profile within the community
  • Develop training programs and supervisory skills
  • Be involved in providing young people with career information and an insight into their industry

What are some examples of projects which have been conducted?

  • 123 Cook!, a cooking contest completed by hospitality students, mentored &judged by an industry professional
  • Build a website for charity
  • Virtual projects
  • Build a BBQ/Pizza Oven

How can I be involved in the Adopt a School Program?
